Road Traffic Office Examinations (STVAü70) and Level 2
We conduct officially recognised driving fitness examinations for the Road Traffic Office, with discretion, competence, and punctuality.

Why you might need it
In Switzerland, private drivers must pass a medical control examination every two years from age 75 (the earlier age limit of 70 was raised to 75 on 1 January 2019). Drivers of professional or higher categories (e.g. C, D, passenger transport) require a Level 2 examination.
What to expect
The examination includes checking eyesight, mobility, the cardiovascular system and general health, plus a conversation about medications and pre-existing conditions. If findings are unremarkable, we confirm your fitness to drive directly to the road traffic office. If further investigation is needed, we discuss the next steps with you.
Key benefits
Recognised control examination (Level 1 and 2) close to home
Carried out by a doctor who knows your medical history
Direct confirmation to the road traffic office
Personal advice, e.g. on medications and fitness to drive
Who it’s for
Drivers aged 75+ subject to the periodic control requirement
Holders of higher categories (C, D, passenger transport) – Level 2
People asked by the road traffic office to undergo an examination
Good to know
The traffic-medicine examination is not covered by basic insurance; you bear the cost yourself.
The periodic senior examination may be performed by a doctor with Level 1 recognition – ask us whether your family doctor holds it. Higher categories require at least Level 2.
Bring your driving licence, your visual aid and a current medication list. The responsible road traffic office depends on your canton of residence (e.g. Canton Zürich or Canton Bern).
